Holy Spirit

NOVENA TO THE HOLY SPIRIT

1 Holy Spirit, gift of God to my soul, I remain astonished for the emotion and admiration, thinking of you. I cant find anything that can express the inner happiness that I feel, knowing you as my most sweet guest and the divine life in me.
Like flood waters, the soul is overwhelmed by the quiet, the love and the tasty contemplation of you.
I am amazed for so such worth; I think of your beauty, so stupendous beyond any word and imagination; I think of your inexhaustible riches of grace, of gifts, of virtues, of fruit and beatitudes.
I think of your tender goodness, which induces you to dwell in me. You have everything,
you can do everything, you want to give me everything. I am in a state of emotional admiration, notwithstanding my misery, which makes me the least of all on earth. I bless you, I adore you, I thank you, I ask you everything. Give me everything, O Holy Spirit.

Glory be…

2 Spirit of the Lord and Heavenly Giver of Gifts, with my deepest humility, but also with all the strength of my ardent desires, I ask you to give me your holy gifts, especially wisdom and piety.
Let these gifts grow in me
to their complete development, so that my soul may be docile and obedient to you, interior Master, and so that I may always live by your gifts and in the sweet and intimate contemplation of you and of the whole Holy Trinity.

Glory be…

3 Holy Spirit, interior Master and sanctifier, I ask you, with untiring persistence, to teach my intellect all truth, to speak to my heart, You would like to sanctify me, caring for my soul, as you cared for that of our Lady, your Immaculate Spouse, of the Martyr and the Saints.
I am eager
for holiness: not for me, but to give glory to You, Master of masters, glory of the Holy Trinity, splendour of the Church, example to all the faithful.
There is no better way to be a true
apostle than by being saints, because without holiness, we can do very little. Holy Spirit, listen to my prayer and fulfill my ardent desires.

Glory be…

4 Holy Spirit, truth and blessed light, I feel a deep bitterness to notice that you are almost completely unknown or forgotten by a great many of us.
We don’t
think about You at all, distracted as we are by many worries, absorbed by the spirit of the world, careless and not concerned about your kindness and thoughtfulness. What ungratefulness!
Most of this fault is ours, that
we don’t live this truth and of which we never talk about it to souls.
Holy Spirit, accept my poor
sentiments in atonement for so much deplorable omission, and as a request for great light for me, for the priests, and for the faithful.

Glory be…

5 Holy Spirit, love and suavity of the Father and the Son, flower and perfume of God’s holiness, divine fire lit in me, make my heart completely new; remove every stain and darkness, burn up every impurity, and conform me to the image of the divine Son.
Spirit of fire, who deign to dwell in me personally to sanctify me, ignite in me this fire of love, penetrate and invest
with your flame my entire soul; dispel every disordered attachment; move me to apostolic conquest; grant me the grace to be a flame, and blaze of pure and eternal love.

Glory be…

6 Spirit of fortitude, who gave the martyrs the strength to die gladly for the cause of Christ the Lord , infuse in me this divine gift with all its intensity.
Stir
me from my torpor and my indolence, make me strong in undertaking all that the Lord asks me, without paying attention to the sacrifices and toils, for your glory and for the spiritual and material benefit of all brethren.
Give me the strength to continue with ardour, without being tired
and without the possibility of abandoning what I have begun.
Give me courage and energy in defending the Church intrepidly, in asserting in the presence of
all peoples the integrity of the faith, and true obedience to the Pope and the Bishops.
Give me supernatural upsurge
in the apostolate; may I persevere to the end, at the cost of any martyrdom of the soul or of the body. Divine Spirit, envelop me with your omnipotence, sustain me by your vigour, and wrap me with your invincible strength.

Glory be…

7 Spirit of truth and light, flame and warmth of light, most blessed light, dissipate and dispel from my mind the shadows of error and doubt.
Irradiate and lighten with perfect clarity
the deepest part of my soul. May I always reject every error; may I adhere strongly to the truth in accordance with the teaching of the Church; may I walk in your splendour.
Invested
with your holy light, may I remain always in your truth and in pure clarity.

Glory be…

8 Purifying Spirit, purify me from every stain. Sanctify me and give me the virtues of Jesus, His same intentions and inner dispositions.
Let there be in me the same Spirit of Jesus.
Blow into my soul, toward Jesus, the same love that the Father blow into his divine Son, and give me the same attraction that the Father feels toward his beloved and dearest Son Jesus.

Glory be…

9 Holy Spirit, I implore you to illuminate my mind with clear lights, necessary for me, and for those who ask from me, and to sustain my weak will with the graces of love and fortitude.
Sanctifying Divinity, lead me to the highest holiness, through the continuous and patient work that is docile to your kindness.
You are the
Holiness, and I must let you live in me, favouring your work of perfection.
Renewing Divinity, renew everything, dispel
every evil, every danger, every malice, make everything new in me, everything pure, everything holy.
Vivifying Divinity, Soul of my soul, give me the strength to give witness to and glorify always, with you, the divine Son, and
to live for His glory and die in His love.Giving Divinity, give me your gifts so that I may contemplate God in the light of His mysteries, understand the true value of life and of things, and love everyone with pure charity, as if I were already in heaven. Thank you! Amen.

Glory be…

THE ROSARY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

P. O God, come to our aid.
C. Lord, make haste to help me.
P. Glory be…
C. As it was in the beginning …

Glory, adoration, blessings… (this prayer is found in Pg. 5, and is to be repeated within every Mystery after the Glory Be).
The mystery is announced and all meditate for some moments in silence on it, or alternatively the indicated passage of Scripture is read.
Our Father and Hail Mary follow.
This is repeated seven times:
P. Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful.
C. And enkindle in them the fire of your love.
Conclude with the Glory Be.
We suggest a song to Holy Spirit at the beginning of the Rosary, between the mysteries, and at the end of the Rosary.
People use red beads with seven decades, which rosary is particular to the Rosary of the Holy Spirit.

THE MYSTERIES

1 Jesus is conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit in the womb of the Virgin Mary (Matt. 1:18-25).

2 Jesus is consecrated as the Messiah by the Holy Spirit in the Jordan (Luke 3:21-22; John 1:29-34; Act. 10:37-38).

3 Jesus dies on the Cross to take away the sin of the world, and gives the Holy Spirit (John 19:28-30 Luke 23,44-48).

4 The Risen Jesus gives the Apostles the Holy Spirit for the forgiveness of sins (John 20:19-23).

5 At Pentecost, the Father and Jesus pour out the Holy Spirit: the Church, thus empowered, opens herself to the mission in the world (Act. 2:1-6; Act. 2:29-36).

6 The Holy Spirit descends upon the Gentiles for the first time (Act. 10:44-48).

7 The Holy Spirit guides the Church of all times, giving Her His gifts and charisms

(1Cor. 12:4-11; 1Cor. 12:31-14:1; John 16:12-15; John 17:20-23).

At the end: one Our Father, one Hail Mary and one Glory Be, so that the Holy Spirit may enlighten and guide the Holy Father and all the Bishops in their pastoral ministry.

ACT OF SELF-GIVING AND CONSECRATION
TO THE HOLY SPIRIT

O Holy Spirit, Spirit of Jesus and of the Father,
You desire to live in me, a poor sinner
and to transform me into a temple of your glory.
Come, Spirit of divine Communion,
come and fill my whole being.
Come and join me to Jesus crucified and risen,
so that all my brethren and I may be one Body with Him,
and be with Him a beloved child of the Father.
You gave yourself to me without
measure. I humbly give
and consecrate myself to You.
Make me docile to your action
so that You may fulfill your Mission in me,
in the Church and in the world,
now and until the time when I shall commit myself
together with You into the hands of the Father,
like Jesus, forever and ever.
Together with Mary and all Saints
I beg You to grant this prayer.
Amen. Alleluia.
